10 December 2016 ------Current Affairs

1)The Human Rights Day is observed across the world on 10 December every year.The day aims at promoting and raising awareness of the two Covenants of Human Rights Day.

2)India and Vietnam on Friday signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement for the peaceful use of atomic energy.Three other agreements to enhance aviation links, jointly work in the area of energy efficiency, and to promote parliamentary cooperation were also signed.

3)According to the 2016 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) India was ranked 7th among 163 countries in the list of most impacted by terrorism in 2015. The fourth edition of the index was released by Sydney-based think-tank Institute for Economics & Peace. India is one of six Asian countries ranked in the top 10 nations most impacted by terrorism.

4)The Kerala government has launched two mobile applications which can be used to upload information regarding graft.Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched the applications - 'ArisingKerala' and 'Whistle Now - at a function here on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day. 

5)Actor Ranveer Singh has featured on the cover of 'Man's World' as he is part of the 'Men Of The Year' list by the magazine. Ranveer was called one of 'The Outliers' by the magazine.

6)Indian filmmaker Onir's documentary, 'Raising The Bar' has won the 'Award of Recognition' at the 'Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards'. The documentary is about six Indian and Australian youth with Down Syndrome. "I have always celebrated human rights and diversity. 

7)Peter Gilchrist of Singapore defeated Sourav Kothari to win the 2016 IBSF World Billiards Long Up title on 8 December 2016. The event was held in Bengaluru, India. 

8)Japan has successfully launched a rocket carrying the unmanned cargo spaceship Kounotori 6 to deliver supplies for astronauts living in the International Space Station (ISS).The H-2B rocket carrying the spaceship lifted off from the Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan. 

9)Japan on Friday launched a spaceship carrying a 700-metre-long tether to pull some of the space debris from Earth's orbit out into the atmosphere.The Japanese space agency, JAXA, will pilot its “electrodynamic tether” for the first time. It is one of many possible solutions that have been proposed to deal with space garbage.
10)Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Ravi Shankar Prasad, launched a TV channel named ‘DigiShala’ on December 9, 2016 to promote cashless transaction in rural areas. Apart from the channel, the government also initiated ‘Digi Dhan Abhiyan’ to achieve the objective of educating, enabling and informing citizens about the cashless economy. “DigiShala” is a free-to-air channel which is telecasted nationally on DD free-DTH service having a viewership of two crore across the country.

11)Larsen & Turbo (L&T) has bagged a contract from the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) to make Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium of Gujarat the world’s biggest cricket stadium in terms of seating capacity.Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium is situated in Motera, Ahmadabad in Gujarat.
